Imagine the bastard child of Chromeo, The Gap Band and George Benson, but born in a post-pop world ruled by pianos, personal meltdowns and relationship highs. That’s kinda where Yeah Boy lives (formerly one part of Parachute Youth) and his “Can’t Get Enough” EP is his onomatopoeic entry into a domain that dances on the edges so right.
The three track EP is backed by an array of remixes for the title t
rack. Pete Tong darling Marlon Hoffstadt & HRSSN give it the right amount of cool club, the Geek v Vrv throw it back to real funk days, Sam Padrul keeps it nice and smooth and Sweat bad bois Go Freek turn in their now trademark g wonk gutter tech take on things.
After sitting pretty on the Hypem charts for two weeks and support from BBC 1’s Zane Lowe and Annie Mac, I think we will be hearing a lot more of Yeah Boy this year.
