Yeah Boy – Can’t Get Enough
Imagine the bastard child of Chromeo, The Gap Band and George Benson, but born in a post-pop world ruled by pianos, personal meltdowns and relationship highs. That’s kinda where Yeah Boy lives (formerly one part of Parachute Youth) and his “Can’t Get Enough” EP is his onomatopoeic entry into a domain that dances on the edges so right.
The lead single gets the remix treatment from Pete Tong darling Marlon Hoffstadt & HRSSN who give it the right amount of cool club, the Geek v Vrv throw it back to real funk days, Sam Padrul keeps it nice and smooth and Sweat bad bois Go Freek turn in what may be their best yet (well, they said it was) with their now trademark g wonk gutter tech take on things.
And if you want a few stats, Zane Lowe and Annie Mac are already fans, one listen at ADE was enough for Big Beat/Warner to pick our boy up for the states and UK and Parachute Youth…well… they went gold in Aus and all parts of Europe.
As a wise man once said, if you are skating on thin ice, you might as well tap dance and Yeah Boy does that just perfectly on this 3 tracker – where pop meets p funk like icing sits on a prize winning cup cake.
